Not what I expected.

I'm currently still in the hospital waiting for my doctor to discharge me, I have a couple for hours I think. Last night was a lot harder than I expected and it just seemed to drag on and on. Finally this morning around 1:00 I was able to go to the bathroom and end how with me throwing/coughing up blood.

My surgery was about there hours long and as of right now I still don't know many deals. Before they took me to operating room they have me my "I just don't care" drugs that make me forget anything from then to when I was in the recovery room. By the time I was brought to my room it was 1:00 in the afternoon. I remember a guy helping me out in recovery that asked me if I spoke Spanish and then wished me good luck, at least I think I remember that.

My face is also a lot more swollen and stiff than I expected. When I look at myself in the mirror, I scare myself. Lol. Makes me wonder what I am going to look like on day 3 and 4. Yikes! I also woke up with what I thought was a splint in my mouth, but turned out to not be your average splint. The right side of my jaw was hurting so I had the nurse cut a couple of elastics and after an hour or so of sleeping I realized that my "splint" came out. Now I can't really close my mouth all the way since then and since my cheeks are so stiff.

I'll update you guys later after I get discharged and am back in my hotel room getting comfortable.

  1. Aww you poor thing I know how you feel. But you are now on the other side of jaw world!!! What kind of splint was that? My splint was different I dont think I would have survived with that big thing in my mouth. I pray it gets better for you.

  2. I really know how you feel. I couldn't believe how much worse it was than what I thought. Check out my post I just put up for a good coping read. I hope you feel better. I'm finally home and about to take some meds to get some more sleep.

  4. You can do it hun! The nights in the hospital are the worst mostly because you're in the hospital. Once you get to go home, you'll feel much more comfortable (as much as you can be, considering you just had surgery). So excited for you!

  5. You got this Esmeralda! So happy for you getting past the surgery part. The next few days are hard, but not impossible. Stay patient, stay calm, and take those pain meds. They will help get you through the days until you're feeling more alive. Sending you all my best wishes!

  8. So glad your surgery was successful! Don't worry, just wait 5-6 weeks, and the results will SO be worth all this pain right now :) Be patient!
